Out-of-school youth held for robbing grandpa of P1 M, stealing car in Ilocos Sur


CAOAYAN, Ilocos Sur – Police arrested on Tuesday, March 26, an 18-year-old out-of-school youth for allegedly robbing  his grandfather of more than P1 million and stealing a car in Barangay San Lorenzo Querubin here on Monday, March 25.

Police Capt. Medel Perinion, town chief of police, identified the suspect as Art P. Manuel.

Police said the victim, businessman Reynaldo Q. Queypo, 76, found out that cash and car were missing from his house.

Queypo reviewed surveillance footages which revealed the suspect forcibly opening a drawer in the living room and taking away money and the keys of the car.

The victim reported the incident to the police. Lawmen captured the suspect in Barangay Caboloan, Santa Catalina, this province, after they were notified of his presence in the area.

Police said the suspect and the victim lived together in the same house but they parted ways when the victim no longer tolerated the suspect who mortgaged his properties and failed to settle his obligations.

Perenion said the suspect faces robbery and carnapping charges.
