'Nahulog si ineng!' Girl, 16, falls off Calapan-bound passenger ship

A 16-year old female passenger fell off a passenger ship that was heading to Calapan City port, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) said on Wednesday, March 27.
Fortunately, a fisherman happened to pass by while the victim was struggling to keep herself afloat, and eventually rescued her.
Based on the report, the Montenegro Santa Brigida was travelling to Calapan from Batangas City port on Tuesday, March 26, when the victim fell overboard.
The victim was able to board the ship again with the help of the fisherman and the crew of the passenger vessel.
The victim was immediately taken to the nearest hospital after it reached the Calapan port.
Meanwhile, PPA General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago said the flow of passengers in all ports across the country remain normal, although he said they expect the influx of passengers starting Wednesday afternoon, March 27.
The PPA is expecting more than two million passengers for the Holy Week break, the arrival of passengers is expected to be on Wednesday afternoon, especially since the national government declared a half-day of work.
As of 12 noon on March 27, the PPA reported that there were around 13,000 passengers that went to the Batangas City port while a total of 2,151 disembarked.
At the Manila North Port, a total of 1,209 passengers were reported.
Santiago earlier inspected the Manila North Port Passenger Terminal and reminded all port personnel to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers.
