Manila North, South Cemeteries closed on Easter Sunday

Manila North and South Cemeteries will be closed on Easter Sunday, March 31.
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan said the two cemeteries will be temporarily closed starting noon on Wednesday, March 27.
She said the two city-run public cemeteries will be open only for interment purposes.
Meanwhile, the mayor also implemented a liquor ban from March 28 to 29 to have a peaceful observance of the Holy Week.
Under Executive Order No. 9, Mayor Honey said it is necessary to prohibit the sale of liquor and the consumption of intoxicating and alcoholic beverages within the 500-meter radius of all Catholic churches in Manila.
Lacuna-Pangan called on Manilaños to use the occasion to meditate, renew one's faith, and reboot, instead of engaging in drinking sessions that sometimes lead to fights and even chaos.
She directed Manila Police District director Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay to strictly implement the order, stressing that the Holy Week must be spent to reflect and pray.
