CEBU CITY – An alleged unlicensed gun maker was arrested by the police in a raid in Danao City, northern Cebu at dawn on Tuesday, March 26.

Raided was the house of the 39-year-old suspect based on a search warrant issued by Judge Maria Josefa C. Pinza-Ramos of the Regional Trial Court Branch 90 in Danao.
Operatives of the Intelligence Unit of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) seized a caliber .45 pistol, a caliber .22 revolver, assorted unassembled firearm components, and gun-making paraphernalia.
The suspect detained at the Danao City Police Station will be charged for violation of the Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, said Police Col. Percival Zorilla, chief of the CPPO.
Zorilla said the raid was part of CPPO’s intensified campaign against loose firearms.
“Our campaign against loose firearms is a continuous effort to ensure the safety and security of our people. These accomplishments are the result of the hard work and dedication of our police officers and the cooperation of the public,” said Zorilla.
Zorilla urged those who are keeping unlicensed firearms to surrender them to proper authorities to avoid legal trouble.
