The three participating barangays in the annual reenactment of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ  are also ready – San Juan, Santa Lucia, and San Pedro Cutud.

Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag, who is on official business, backed the Holy Week activities in the city.

Caluag urged the Maleldo 2024 Executive Committee to prioritize the health, safety, and security of hundreds of participating individuals and visitors.

In Barangay San Juan, the reenactment will be from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., Barangay Santa Lucia, 10 a.m. to 12 noon, and Barangay San Pedro Cutud, 12 noon to 3 p.m.

On the other hand, the “Tira Bakal,” which is similar to the "senakulo" or the reenactment of the passion of Jesus Christ, will also be held on Good Friday in the City of San Fernando.

It will be at 9 a.m. in Barangay Juliana, 10 a.m. in Barangay Santa Teresita, and 11 a.m. in Barangay San Jose.

The city government assured the security of people witnessing these Holy Week events.

Among the prominent participants in the Maleldo is carpenter Ruben Enaje, 62, who was nailed to the cross probably for the last time in 2023.

Enaje started his devotion after he survived a fall from a three-story building in the 80s.
