2 men killed in motorcycle crash in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY – Two persons were killed and their companion was injured after their motorcycle crashed into a truck in Barangay Lemery, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Saturday, March 23.

Police identified the victims as Reymund Cogonon, 31, and Pedro Sabroso, 54, residents of Barangay Macasilao, Calatrava.

Police Capt. Jesus Alba, deputy chief of the Calatrava Municipal Police Station, said the motorcycle driven by Cogonon overlapped on the opposite lane and hit the truck on the curve part of the road.

Alba said that Cogonon and Sabroso were taken to a hospital where they died.

The victims’ back rider, Randel Bornea, 23, of Barangay Macasilao, was injured and in stable condition in the hospital.

He said the 31-year-old truck driver has been released from police custody following an initial settlement with the victims’ families.
