'Walang iwanan': Police couple in Bicol promoted together--for the 5th time

OOPS, THEY DID IT AGAIN! Couple Irene and Nelson Seletaria were both promoted to the rank of Police Executive Master Sergeant in a ceremony held at the Albay Provincial Police Office in Ligao City. This is the fifth time they were promoted together since their love story started as classmates during their Police Basic Recruit Course in 2005.
This is a love story built and strengthened by the police’s motto “to serve and protect’.
And what better—and sweetest—way to celebrate their marriage than to see each other reaping the success of their hard work and commitment to their chosen profession, together.
Couple Irene Trajano-Seletaria and Nelson Seletaria were among the 49,125 uniformed personnel who were promoted to the next rank in the latest promotion in the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Irene, assigned to the Albay Provincial Police Office, and her husband Nelson, assigned to the Polangui Municipal Police Station, were both promoted to the rank of Police Executive Master Sergeant (PEMS).
And they were promoted together, not once, but actually the fifth time since they first met as classmates in the Police Basic Recruit Course in 2005.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one who has been part of my voyage. This journey has been filled with challenges and struggles, but each one has shaped me and helped me grow in ways I couldn't have imagined. I've learned that perseverance and dedication can turn the impossible into possible,” said Irene in her Facebook post.
“This promotion isn't just about me. It's a testament to the power of collective effort, support, and love. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I am excited for what the future holds and I am fortunate to have you all by my side,” she added.
PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr. said the regular promotion program of the PNP ensures a streamlined rank structure for the entire 232,000-strong police force based on the approved staffing pattern by the National Police Commission (Napolcom).
Most of those promoted were to the rank of the Police Staff Sergeant with a total of 11,930; followed by the promotion to the rank of Police Master Sergeant with 11,426; then to Police Senior Master Sergeant with 6,116; and to Corporal with 6,114.
A total of 5,334 uniformed personnel were promoted to the rank of Police Chief Master Sergeant and 4,282 to the rank of Police Executive Master Sergeant.
On the other hand, a total of 2,442 Non-Commissioned Officers broke into the officers rank after their promotion to the rank of Police Lieutenant was approved.
PNP data also disclosed that 161 police officials were promoted to the rank of Police Lieutenant Colonel, 467 to Police Major and 853 to Police Captain.
Acorda urged those promoted to uphold the rule of law, promote public safety, and cultivate a culture of excellence within the PNP.
“With higher rank comes greater accountability and leadership expectations. Lead by example, uphold the principles of integrity and professionalism, and prioritize the safety and well-being of the communities we serve as a demonstration of your love for our country,” said Acorda.
He also urged all officers to ensure that their actions are consistently guided by the principles of good governance, transparency, and accountability.
“Let us remain mindful of the trust and confidence bestowed upon us by the Filipino people. Together, let us be agents of change, advancing the president’s agenda for reform and transformation,” said Acorda.
