CEBU CITY – A 63-year-old man fatally shot his 28-year-old son during an argument in their house in Barangay Lahug here on Monday night, March 25.
Eugenio Caballes is facing a parricide case after killing his son Kenn, said Police Major Romeo Caacoy Jr., chief of the Mabolo Police Station.
Louisa, wife of the suspect, said her husband didn’t plan to kill their son.
She narrated that it was around 7 p.m. when he told Kenn to turn off some of the lights in the house.
Around 10 p.m., Louisa noticed that some of the lights had yet to be turned off, prompting her to remind Kenn again.
Louisa said Kenn got irked and raised his voice at her.
Eugenio reprimanded Kenn after seeing his actions towards his mother.
The father and son argued.
Eugenio went out of the house carrying a gun. He was met by Kenn, who struck his father with a piece of wood and hit him in the neck.
Louisa said as Eugenio fell to the ground, the gun went off and hit Kenn in the head.
She said it was not the first time that the father and son had argued.
Louisa said her son had caused trouble in the household several times especially when he was high on illegal drugs.
There was a time when Kenn was jailed after she mauled her live-in partner, Louisa said.
