DSWD distributes financial assistance to 'Egay'-hit families in Ilocos Sur
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), on Tuesday, March 26, said the department began providing livelihood assistance settlement grants (LSG) to help families in Ilocos Sur affected by Typhoon Egay.

According to Assistant Secretary for Disaster Response Management Group Irene Dumlao, the payout of P4.8 million worth of livelihood grants to around 3,000, or an initial 484 families was conducted at the St. Joseph Institute Gymnasium on Friday, March 22, through its Field Office in Ilocos Region (Region 1).
Dumlao added that these livelihood grants will aid the affected families in "long-term recovery and rehabilitation."
"Part of our disaster response is to ensure that the needs of the affected population, whose economic activities were disrupted, are addressed," Dumlao said.
She also stressed that the distribution of the livelihood grants is being carried out in phases.
"The DSWD will conduct more payout activities in April to complete the target of 3,000 families belonging to the poor, vulnerable, and informal sectors," Dumlao added.
