Castro slams Davao police for not knowing where Quiboloy is

Makabayan solon ACT Teachers Party-List Rep. France Castro has slammed Davao police for claiming that they didn't know the whereabouts of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) church leader, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy. 

This, despite the police "having access to significant intelligence and confidential funds", Castro said in a statement Tuesday morning, March 26.

The Senate and the House of Representatives had previously issued arrest orders for Quiboloy due to his persistent refusal to attend their investigation into alleged human trafficking and child abuse as well as violations of television network SMNI's franchise. 

Quiboloy, known as the self-proclaimed "Appointed Son of God", is the honorary chairman of SMNI. 

He is also closely associated with the Duterte family, whose home turf is Davao. 

Police Major Catherine Dela Rey, spokesperson for the Police Regional Office-Davao, stated  that they had no information regarding Quiboloy's presence in Davao. 

Quiboloy admitted in a recent video statement that he has gone into hiding due to alleged threats against his life. 

"We cannot confirm if pastor is still in Davao because we also do not know where he is now," Dela Rey stated. 

She also mentioned that the Senate's Sergeant-At-Arms has not yet coordinated with local police authorities to execute the arrest order, bring Quiboloy to the Senate, and ensure his presence during the investigations conducted by the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality. 

Castro said that the police's attitude toward the pastor--when compared to their arbitrary arrests of activists, including the recent cases of Eco Dangla and Axielle Tiong--constitute a "double-standard".
