Taal Volcano shows an increase in volume of gas emission

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Monday, March 25, said the volume of the sulfur dioxide (SO2) released by Taal Volcano spiked again.

Phivolcs said a total of 14,287 tons per day of SO2 was recorded since March 24 from the previous record of 6,102 tons on March 19 to March 23. 

Based on the data of Phivolcs, a total of 15,145 tons per day of SO2 was reported to be the highest record since 2024 has started. 

Meanwhile, Phivolcs said there was no volcano-tectonic earthquake that occurred on Monday in Taal Volcano. 


 Volcano remained under Alert Level 1, which means that stream-driven or phreatic eruptions may occur.
