Motorcycle-riding cop dies in Sampaloc road mishap

A motorcycle-riding policeman died instantly after crashing into a trailer truck that was in a stop position along Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard in Sampaloc, Manila on Sunday, March 25.
The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the policeman as Arnel Rovira, a resident of Sta. Maria, Bulacan, and a health service personnel at Camp Crame.
According to the police report, the trailer truck driver and the victim were driving along the westbound lane of RM Boulevard at around 2:30 a.m.
The trailer truck driver had just stopped due to the red light traffic signal when suddenly its rear portion was hit by the front part of the victim's vehicle that was traveling from behind.
Due to the force of impact, the victim sustained a severe head injury and was brought by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) rescue ambulance to Ospital ng Sampaloc.
The victim was pronounced dead at 3:26 a.m.
Authorities said the case is still under investigation.
