Thunderstorms to occur in parts of Philippines due to easterlies
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday, March 24, said isolated thunderstorms will be frequent due to the effects of the easterlies.

In PAGASA’s latest live broadcast, weather specialist Rhea Torres said cloud clusters were observed in the east portion of Visayas and Mindanao bringing in scattered rains and thunderstorms.
“Dulot ito ng easterlies o iyong mainit na hanging nanggagaling sa dagat Pasipiko, at dahil din sa epekto ng easterlies ay mas magiging frequent lamang ang mga thunderstorms or isolated thunderstorms lalong-lalo na sa silangang bahagi ng bansa (It is due to the easterlies or the warm winds from Pacific Ocean, and also because of these effects, thunderstorms or isolated thunderstorms will be frequent particularly in the east portion of the country),” Torres said.
PAGASA warned the public in eastern Visayas and Caraga of flash floods or landslides that may occur in times of moderate to heavy rains, as cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will occur due to easterlies or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
In Metro Manila and the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will also be experienced due to easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA still warned the public of flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
