Nature lovers have found a serene place to spend their vacation, in a village in Tanay, Rizal, ahead of the Lenten break.
The office of Tanay Mayor Rafael “Lito” Tanjuatco announced that the influx of the tourists to the campsites in Barangay San Andres, Tanay, Rizal has made some of the sites fully booked for the upcoming Holy Week.
Barangay San Andres, which boasts of several campsites by the river and hills, can be accessed by taking the Marikina-Rizal-Laguna-Quezon (MARILAQUE) Highway.
The campsites offer amenities like trekking and dipping in the cold, fresh water of the river and lagoon.
Some of the campsites have man-made pools for swimming, bonfire activities, horseback riding, and trips to several mini-waterfalls and lagoons.
R&J Hillcrest Nature’s Camp is one of the campsites that people can visit, and it has already been preparing for the influx of nature seekers, especially during the Lenten break.

The camp is located at Sitio Anito, Barangay San Andres. It offers nipa huts and tent accommodations.
Visitors can also relax at the riverside cottages, while others can go for a horseback riding activity. It also stated that car and motor camping are allowed in the all-solar-powered campsite.
However, Janette Gerones, the campsite owner, said the campsite strictly observes the 10 p.m. quiet time policy.
For people who would love to visit the campsite, she said that no walk-ins are allowed.

Another campsite that people can visit is Isla San Andres. It offers an equally relaxing view of nature, with the sounds of birds and insects chirping all day.

Several nipa huts serve as the main accommodation facilities of the campsite, which also offers side trips to the river and waterfalls in the area and an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) riding adventure.
Anthony Rebulado, owner of Isla San Andres, encouraged visitors to book their reservations ahead of the long weekend Lenten break to assure them of their stay at the campsite.

Meanwhile, Jeff Pino, the municipal administrator of the local government of Tanay, said that to keep the surroundings clean, campsites adhered to the pro-environment policies of the municipal government, such as waste recycling and segregation, and no-plastic ordinances.
A clean-up activity was also conducted by the residents who joined the Earth Hour event in the waterways of the village to ensure cleanliness.
