
A female senior citizen was hurt, while 50 families or 150 individuals were displaced by a fire that gutted at least 30 houses in Tondo, Manila on Sunday night, March 24.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the 60-year-old woman suffered difficulty in breathing and was immediately given first aid.
According to the BFP, the fire that broke out at Capulong Street, Barangay 107, was raised to the first alarm at 7:59 p.m. and to the second alarm at 8:04 p.m.
The blaze escalated to the third alarm at 8:09 p.m.
Firefighters were able to put the fire under control at 8:49 p.m. It was finally extinguished at 9:25 a.m.
Investigation disclosed that the fire allegedly started on the second floor of a two-story residential structure.
Some affected families temporarily sheltered inside the Barangay 107 covered court.
The Manila local government distributed hot meals and blankets to the victims.
It said financial assistance will also be provided to them soon.
Firefighters have yet to determine the cost of the damages and the origin of the blaze.
