The drill was spearheaded by the Pasig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) during which employees of the local government unit (LGU), practiced the "Duck, Cover, and Hold" procedure while wearing their hard hats and bringing with them their Emergency Go Bags.
After the alarm, the personnel calmly proceeded to their designated evacuation sites together with other city hall visitors.
"Parte rin ng drill ang pag-check ng mga posibleng pinsala or sira ng gusali na pinangunahan ng DRRMO, City Engineering Office, at Office of the Building Official. Matapos ang inspeksyon, pinabalik na rin sa loob ng gusali ang mga empleyado maging ang mga bisita upang ipagpatuloy ang operasyon ng Pasig City Hall (Part of the drill is the checking and evaluation of the city's buildings and facilities for possible damages incurred during the earthquake scenario led by the DRRMO, City Engineering Office, and Office of the Building Official. After the inspection, employees and visitors were told to return inside the building to continue the City Hall's operation)," the city government said.
The LGU reminded its residents to bring their Emergency Go Bags every time a drill will be conducted.
"Ang mga inisyatibong gaya nito ay nakabubuti upang maging handa ang bawat indibidwal sa mga dapat gawin kung sakaling makaranas ng paglindol o anumang sakuna sa Lungsod ng Pasig (Initiatives such as this is essential to prepare each and every individual on what are the proper procedures in times of earthquakes or any disaster in the city of Pasig)," it stressed.
Emergency Go Bags
In January, the city government distributed Emergency Go Bags to its residents to ensure their safety and wellness in times of disasters and emergencies.
The city government said each Pasigueño family received one Emergency Go Bag containing the following emergency supplies and equipment:
- Flash light
- Glowstick
- Whistle
- Thermal blanket
- Heavy duty scissors
- Zip lock bag
- Sticker
- Magnet
- Family disaster preparedness booklet
- First aid kit (hard case containing alcohol pads, povidone iodine, cotton balls, sterile gauze, medical tape, adhesive antiseptic strip, triangular bandage, elastic bandage)
"Dito sa lungsod ng Pasig, sineseryoso natin ang disaster risk reduction and management. Dapat handa tayo sa kung ano man ang pwedeng mangyari (Here in the city of Pasig, we take disaster risk reduction and management seriously. We have to be prepared for anything that can possibly happen)," Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said.
DRRMO Chief Bryant Wong explained that the program aims to provide each family in the city with an Emergency Go Bag containing everything they may need in order to survive during calamities and other disasters.
Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski and Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo stressed the importance of being knowledgeable not just on how to use the Emergency Go Bag, but also the location of evacuation centers and triage areas when disaster strikes.
