New K-pop girl group ILLIT, the youngest siblings of HYBE Labels and Belift Lab, made their anticipated debut on March 25 with the release of their first mini-album “Super Real Me.” 

ILLIT’s “Super Real Me” contains four songs: The main track “Magnetic,” “My World,” “Midnight Fiction” and “Lucky Girl Syndrome.”

Composed of Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee and Iroha, ILLIT (아일릿) marked the beginning of the fifth generation of K-pop girl groups. 

They are the third girl group that debuted under HYBE Labels under Le Sserafim (under Source Music) and NewJeans (under ADOR). 

The name 'ILLIT' came from combining 'I Will' and 'It,' with the verb left unspecified between them. This naming suggests that the group possesses limitless potential, signifying their capacity to accomplish anything they set their minds to. The five girls strive to do their best for what lies before them as they come and immerse themselves in the moment, radiating a sense of freedom through music imbued with their unique sensibility.

Media showcase, goals 

Before the release of the album, ILLIT held a media showcase for “Real Super Me” where they performed “Magnetic” for the very first time. 

“This was the first performance under ILLIT. We worked really hard to nail it,” said Iroha. 

According to Wonhee, “‘Magnetic’ depicts the candid confidence of a teenage girl approaching her crush. There are a lot of whimsical melodies in ‘Magnetic.’ Those unpredictable tunes and heart pounding feelings are captured through the lyrics.”

“‘Magnetic’ is a song that producer Bang (Si-hyuk) wrote for us,” Yunah. 

About their goals for their debut album, Wonhee said, “Our goal is to top the chart for the music shows. It is one of our goals. ‘Magnetic’ is the first song we are releasing to the public so if we become first place, it is going to be very flattering for us. We will go over the moon.”

Moka added, “There is one more bigger goal that we all talked about. It’s getting the rookie award of the year. We want to be the best newbies of the year. I hope we can get that award.” 

ILLIT also released the music video for “Magnetic’ on HYBE Labels’ YouTube channel. The music video captures the quirky and adorable moments of ILLIT. 

It showcases ILLIT with their superpowers: Wonhee controls light, Minju has X-ray vision, Iroha is telekinetic, Yunah wields superhuman strength, and Moka controls time. The music video vividly portrays ILLIT’s excitement and joy, and its dreamy sequences reflect the true charm of the lead single.

“Super Real Me” is a four-track record that reflects the whimsical and witty identity of ILLIT. 

HYBE’s Chairman Bang Si-hyuk participated in producing the ILLIT’s debut album along with teenage producers who contributed to the album’s authenticity. 

The album's hybrid dance music, combined with trendy elements of Pluggnb and House that underscore the music’s dynamic bass, highlights the unpredictable and head-turning nature of ILLIT's liveliness.

"Here's my invitation," the invitation to ILLIT's world.

As the opening track of ILLIT's debut Mini Album, “My World” is a Pop track that illustrates the world as perceived, experienced, and felt by the band. The mysterious and distinctive rhythm and melody in the intro immediately captivate and draw listeners into the world of ILLIT. With catchy hooks, the quintet boldly embodies their liveliness and innocence, singing how they are "Doing my best now" and "I call the shots around here".

Track 02. Magnetic 

The lead single “Magnetic” is a track about the state of being naturally drawn towards a romantic crush and the emotions involved. HYBE’s Chairman Bang Si-hyuk took part in producing the track, along with teenage producers who contributed to the album’s authenticity. Beautiful arpeggio synths, dynamic bass, and ILLIT's lively voice harmonize over hard-hitting rhythm. Coming to life as elements of Pluggnb and House begin to fuse, the unique chorus with chopped vocals shed light on ILLIT's unpredictable character.

Track 03. Midnight Fiction

Starting out with guitar riffs, “Midnight Fiction” is a Modern Pop track with simple and yet sophisticated arrangement. The dreamy melody and fast-paced psychedelic rhythm together walk the listeners through a sleepless night full of imagination. Lyrics that read "Suddenly I feel like I’m a bird," "On a walk and the clouds look like my dog," and "I made a wish, I want my genie,'' reflect the members’ own imaginations and expand the window into ILLIT's whimsical world.

Track 04. Lucky Girl Syndrome

The Dance Pop track of “Lucky Girl Syndrome” instantly captivates listeners' with its playful whistle. The light rhythm in the intro and the repeating guitar phrases amplify the song's super bubbly charm, while the deep rhythm and refreshing melody bursting out in the hook enrich the overall composition of the track. Full of hope, ILLIT sings "I’m a lucky girl,” appreciating small, everyday things like "Perfect weather" and "Just the right playlist."
