DOH urges road safety for Holy Week
Code White Alert implemented nationwide
As Holy Week approaches, the Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday, March 23, reminded motorists to prioritize safety amidst the anticipated surge in road travel.

With the annual exodus of individuals and families heading to provinces, tourist destinations, and places of worship, DOH said that the risk of road accidents escalates significantly.
Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa highlighted the importance of road safety. "Road accidents can be prevented," he said.
"The DOH, guided by President Marcos, is one with the nation in pursuit of safe roads for all," he added.
Meanwhile, motorists were urged by the DOH to prioritize safety by ensuring vehicles undergo regular maintenance checks before long journeys and drivers were adequately rested before taking the wheel.
They were also advised to refrain from alcohol consumption, maintain focus on the road, and take short breaks to stay hydrated during extended drives.
DOH noted that these guidelines aim to minimize the risk of road accidents and ensure a safer travel experience for all during this busy period.
Related to this, the DOH declared the implementation of a Code White Alert across hospitals nationwide.

It also added that this measure guarantees that medical personnel and staff will be readily available to accommodate and treat incoming patients, reinforcing the healthcare system's preparedness during this heightened period of road travel.
