League-leading scorer and rising star Casiey Dongallo lifted University of the East past Adamson in four sets, 26-24, 23-25, 25-18, 25-20, in the second round of the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday, March 23, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Lady Warriors exacted their sweet revenge against the Lady Falcons for only their second in the season, and in turn, ended their six-game losing skid for a 2-6 slate in the standings.

Dongallo, the 18-year-old rookie, powered the Lady Warriors, scoring 12 of another team-high performance 28 points in the fourth set which was built on 25 attacks, two blocks and one service ace.
Riza Nogales, meanwhile, finished with a season-high six kill blocks to eventually score an equally reliable 17 markers to give the team a much-needed win and morale boost.
Kayce Balingit and sophomore setter Kizzie Madriaga contributed 10 and five points, respectively.
Without their head coach Jerry Yee to oversee their side of the things at the venue due to this season-long suspension, UE is off to another promising start in the second round following a similar four-set win in its opening day match against the Ateneo Blue Eagles last Feb. 17.
UE shrugged off Adamson’s second-set fightback before jumping to a 2-1 set lead, evidently drawing strength and inspiration from their first-round encounter where Yee was handed the suspension.
In the fourth set, though, the Lady Warriors found themselves trailing in the early goings before effectively displaying composure and offensive might to tie things up at 19-all.
Dongallo then unleashed five consecutive points to bring UE at match point, 24-20, before a costly error from AA Adolfo, who went wide on her attempt, handed the Lady Warriors the victory.
“Pushing the girls to really work hard, telling them they can play really well and to trust themselves – [that’s exactly what] they showed today,” said interim head coach Obet Vital.
Ishie Lalongisip paced the Lady Falcons with 18 points while Barbie Jamili had 11 markers of her own. Adolfo added 10 points in the losing cause.
Adamson slid further in the standings with a 2-6 record following four losses in a row, with its last taste of victory coming off its four-set win over UE in the first round.
