Police arrested a 42-year-old businessman for unauthorized sale, distribution and refill of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) products in Pasay City on Friday, March 22.
Col. Mario Mayames, Pasay City police chief, said the suspect, identified as alias John, was nabbed at around 3:15 p.m. on Edang St. in Barangay 155, Pasay City.
Mayames said members of the Station Investigation and Detective Management Office (SIDMO) and Police Substation 6 implemented a search warrant issued by Judge Josephine M Advento of Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC), Branch 111, on March 18, 2924 against the suspect for violation of Industry Regulation Act and the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
Confiscated during the search were 41 tanks of Island Gas LPG.
The police chief said members of the SIDMO applied for a search warrant after receiving numerous complaints that the suspect was distributing, refilling and selling LPG cylinders using the trademark of Island Gas without the approval of the Island Air Products Corporation.
The Southern Police District (SPD) reminded the public to adhere to laws and regulations governing the use and distribution of LPG and other regulated substances, emphasizing the importance of lawful and responsible practices in the industry.
