CEBU CITY – The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) is ready to implement any order that the Department of Justice (DOJ) may issue in relation to the arrest of former Negros Oriental Rep. Arnie Teves Jr.
TEVES
Police Lt. Col. Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7), said they have yet to receive an official communication from the DOJ with regards to the arrest of Teves.
Nonetheless, Pelare said the PRO-7 is ready should they be needed when the trial against Teves commences.
“We are ready in case that our arresting officers will be called to testify. We are very confident that what we have forwarded to the Department of Justice is an air tight case," said Pelare.
Pelare said the PRO-7 played a huge role in the arrest of some individuals who were implicated in the crime.
Teves is facing multiple murder charges after he was tagged as the alleged mastermind in the killing of Gov. Roel Degamo and five others in a brazen attack in Pamplona, Negros Oriental last year.
Teves was arrested while playing golf in Dili, East Timor on Thursday, March 21.
Degamo’s wife, Pamplona Mayor Janice Degamo, welcomed the arrest of Teves.
“I would like to see him in jail, maybe visit him in jail,” Degamo said in an interview with GMA 7’s “Balitang Bisdak.”
Degamo said the arrest of Teves was an “answered prayer.” She added that the wheel of justice is starting to roll following the arrest of Teves.
“We are happy that nangyayari na (it is happening). It’s beginning to happen and mas lalo akong naniniwala at tumitibay ang aking paniniwala (I believe) that justice will be ours,” the mayor added.
