Only Batanes affected by 'amihan'; warm winds dominating the rest of the country — PAGASA
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday, March 22 said the northeast monsoon or “amihan” has weakened further and is now only affecting the extreme Northern Luzon.
In the early morning forecast, weather specialist Obet Badrina said the amihan may continue to weaken, and PAGASA may announce the end of the season on Friday.
Based on PAGASA's 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the amihan may cause cloudy skies and light rains in Batanes over the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the easterlies, which are warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, may cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Caraga, Davao Oriental, and Davao de Oro.
PAGASA warned that moderate to "at times" heavy rains in these three areas could cause flash floods or landslides.
The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA also warned the public about potential flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
