BAGUIO CITY -- Jonar Austria recorded consecutive 54 points to anchor Grumpy Joe to victory in Group 1 at the close of the 18th Corporate Cup held at Camp John Hay Golf Club here.

Austria shot two even-par scores despite the sleek green of the par-69 layout. Von Vargas supported with 46 and Oscar Gallo made a 45 for 145 and 286 total.

“I’m glad we won on our first try,” said Grumpy Joe president Benedict Fernandez, noting that his wards needed one big push against the two-time champion Forest Hills.

Forest Hills mounted a final day charge as Iñigo Raymundo and Dennis Nicomedes each tallied 51 while JB Gosiaco added 47 for 149 and 285—a point from forcing a playoff.

“We will be back stronger,” vowed Forest Hills playing captain Raymond Bunquin.

Other team winners were Mountaineers (Grp 2), Laus Group (Grp 3), MGCBA (Grp 4), Liloan Golf Club (Senior 1), ACES AMC (Senior 2) and Pampanga Block Builders (Senior 3).

The event was presented by The Manor and Forest Lodge at Camp John Hay, Le Chef with Moto Industrial Traders, Grumpy Joe and Mount Banoy Security Agency.
