Vice President Sara Duterte on Friday, March 22, lauded the professionalism and resilience of the Philippine Army (PA) as the country’s armed forces celebrate their 127th year of founding anniversary.

In a video message, Duterte said the characters of the army in the face of internal and external challenges “solidify our position in the global security arena and ensure the security of every Filipino."

“Ang inyong serbisyo at sakripisyo ay nagpapakita ng tunay na pagmamahal sa bansang Pilipinas at sa sambayanang Pilipino. Patuloy sana nating itaguyod ang kapayapaan at kaunlaran para sa ating mga mamamayan (Your service and sacrifice show your real love for the Philippines and the Filipino people. I hope that you continue to maintain peace and progress for our citizens),” she said.

The Vice President said she is one with the military in strengthening the country’s defense and would support all programs to ensure the security of the state.

She also called on them to unite towards a stronger military that is ready to face challenges and ensure the country’s territory and territorial integrity.

“Mga kababayan, patuloy tayong maging matatag tungo sa pagtaguyod ng isang Bansang Makabata at mga Batang Makabansa (My countrymen, let's remain strong towards a country that is pro-children and pro-nation),” she said, as she called this year’s celebration as something that resonates deeply with the Philippines’ commitment to enhancing the capabilities and readiness of the army. 

“Ang lahat ng ginagawa natin ay para sa Diyos, sa Bayan at bawat Pamilyang Pilipino (All that we do is for God, for the country and for the Filipino families),” she added.
