BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-13 on Friday, March 22, will activate the Lakbay Alalay motorist assistance program in the Caraga region for the Holy Week.
Personnel will be deployed on key routes, particularly the Maharlika Highway, DPWH-13 Regional Director Engr. Pol M. delos Santos said.
Delos Santos has ordered all District Engineering Offices (DEOs) in the region to ensure that Public Assistance Desks (PADs), signs and pavement markings, warning signs, and project markings are set up in all ongoing road improvement projects.
“We also expect surge of devotees that will troop to our different churches in various parts of the region during the Holy Week period,” Delos Santos said.
“Large volumes of vehicles are expected during the long weekend, and see to it that signage must be put in place to maintain smooth traffic flow,” he said in his directive to all district engineers and team leaders of Lakbay Alalay that will start at 8 a.m. on Thursday, March 28.
“Safe travel and road assistance to our commuters are our main concern here during the observance of Holy Week,” Delos Santos said.
Delos Santos ordered district engineers to closely coordinate with other concerned line agencies of the government and local government units for Lakbay Alalay.
