Various activities have been scheduled to start in Binangonan, Rizal this week ahead of the March 29 celebration of the town’s 124th founding anniversary.
The office of Binangonan Mayor Cesar Ynares announced that this coming Saturday, March 23, the local officials will lead two simultaneous tree-planting activities in the municipality.
Municipal government officials and employees, barangay leaders and residents, together with the members of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and civic organizations, will plant seedlings in two different sites.
Various local bands will be performing on the night of March 23 in front of the Casimiro A. Ynares, Sr. Auditorium to provide musical entertainment to the public for free as part of the Aba! Festival 2024.
Performers include the town’s locally grown talent, the “New Direction”, a local band with a carrier single “Hahayaan” and Youtube hit “Kahit Sandali” that has garnered 500,000 views; and a rock group “Agos” that has a carrier single “Hunos Dili”.
The performance of the group, “This Band”, an indie pop band under Viva Records, highlights the night’s musical show that is expected to gather hundreds of music lovers in the town and nearby municipalities.
Municipal Administrator Russel Ynares said the Saturday night event in front of the auditorium, just across the municipal building, will also showcase the awarding of winners in the Gawad Parangal, or the recognition of the town’s achievers, miniature bamboo art making contest, and the Binangonan painting contest.
The light switching off ceremony at 8:30 p.m. in observance of the Earth Hour 2024 will also be part of the program on March 23 to encourage the public’s full participation in the annual pro-environment event.
Several food kiosks and exhibitors will be around the event’s venue to offer food and drinks to the public.
Binangonan gained its independence as a separate town in Rizal Province on March 29, 1900 .
