The Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) has turned into a venue where House members put in full display their support for Speaker Martin Romualdez and the Marcos administration in general.
The latest service caravan Friday, March 22 in Agusan del Norte was no exception--in fact, it was the biggest show of support yet for the House leader and the administration as far as the event is concerned.
According to Senior Deputy Speaker Pampanga 3rd district Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales, 63 House members went to Agusan del Norte to personally witness how the Marcos administration brings public service directly to the people.
There was even one senator in Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. who joined the BPSF--a pet project of Speaker Romualdez.
“This is the biggest display of unity and solidarity in BPSF next to the Sultan Kudarat service caravan, where almost 50 members of the House of Representatives, mostly from Mindanao attended. At tayo po ay nasa Mindanao uli. Damang-dama natin ang pagkakaisa ng mga mambabatas sa programa ni PBBM dito sa BPSF,” Gonzales said.
(And we're back in Mindanao. We truly feel the legislators' unity behind President Bongbong Marcos' programs here in the BPSF.)
A total of P300 million worth of financial assistance and government services were rolled out to 80,000 beneficiaries in Agusan del Norte in the BPSF.
On top of this, some 200,000 kilograms of rice that were distributed to locals through the efforts of the Speaker’s office. The importance that Romualdez has shown for rice distribution during such events has actually earned him the moniker, "Mr. Rice".
House Majority Leader Zamboanga City 2nd district Rep. Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe said the sheer magnitude of attendance of the lawmakers in the BPSF event underscores the support the House gives to President Marcos and Speaker Romualdez.
“Congress is already on break, and these lawmakers can be anywhere they want to, but they chose to be there sa (in) Agusan del Norte para makiisa (for the sake of unity),” Dalipe said.
Gonzales further commented: “Solidarity is really the word to describe the camaraderie of lawmakers in the Agusan del Norte BPSF."
The Agusan del Norte BPSF is the 14th such event to be launched since it started last year. It is also the first one to be held in the Caraga region.
House members in the 19th Congress have been quick defend Romualdez whenever he is the subject of tirades, particularly from the Duterte family, who are also from Mindanao.
