Pagadian airport to close for one month starting April 15, CAAP says
The airport in Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur will be closed for at least one month as it would undergo runway repair, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said.
CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was already issued in connection with the Pagadian airport closure from April 15 to May 15.
He said the repair is necessary to improved the services to the airline passengers.
As a result, both the Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) and the Philippine Airlines (PAL) have already released their respective advisory to their respsective clients.
“As safety is of paramount concern, operations will be suspended until the works have been completed and we have assessed and confirmed that the runway is safe for landing and take-off,” the CEB management said in a statement.
It said they wil cancel flights to and from Cebu and Manila, including Flights DG 6639 and 6640 (Cebu – Pagadian – Cebu); Flights DG 6641 and 6642 (Cebu – Pagadian – Cebu), and Flights 5J 771 and 772 (Manila – Pagadian – Manila) and Flights 5J 773 and 774 (Manila – Pagadian – Manila).
However, the management is planning additional recovery flights to Ozamiz, where the affected passengers will be automatically re-accommodated. These are Flights DG 6795 and 6796 (Cebu – Ozamiz – Cebu) and Flights 5J 3191 and 3192 (Manila – Ozamiz – Manila).
Affected passengers can also rebook flights to Dipolog and Ozamiz, including Flights DG 6603 and 6604 (Cebu – Dipolog – Cebu); DG 6605 and 6606 (Cebu – Dipolog – Cebu); DG 6791 and 6792 (Cebu – Ozamiz – Cebu); DG 6793 and 6794 (Cebu – Ozamiz – Cebu); 5J 703 and 704 (Manila – Dipolog – Manila); 5J 705 and 706 (Manila – Dipolog – Manila); 5J 781 and 782 (Manila – Ozamiz – Manila) and 5J 783 and 784 (Manila – Ozamiz – Manila).
CEB offers passengers the option to make flight rebooking or rerouting, store a travel fund in a valid CEB wallet, or receive a full refund of their ticket.
“CEB is working closely with CAAP regarding this matter. We thank our passengers for their patience and understanding,” it stated.
For its part, PAL said it will also conduct flight rerouting, adding that Dipolog will serve as an alternate gateway for passengers traveling to and from the Pagadian area.
