BUTUAN CITY – A mining firm in the Caraga region is participating in the observance of Earth Hour on Saturday, March 23.

Philsaga Mining Corp. (PMC) will mobilize officials, staff, department heads, and personnel for the one-hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
During that time, the company will switch off the lights at the pylon of their main administration building and other company’s linkages as a symbol of commitment to the planet.
“We are celebrating Earth Hour again in-person to show our stronger commitment and solidarity as a people who want a better future for our country,” PMC President Atty. Raul C. Villanueva said.
“For just one hour every year, we are again showing our sincere commitment to taking care of our planet Earth.”
On Saturday, the PMC will conduct a clean-up drive at adopted riverbanks led by PMC Resident Manager Engr. Alvin B Castaños.
PMC's participation in Earth Hour aligns with its global sustainability goals and proactive stance in mitigating climate change. Through initiatives like Earth Hour and ongoing sustainability programs, PMC sets an example for responsible corporate citizenship in the mining sector, Castaños said.
"We recognize the importance of protecting our planet for future generations," Castaños added.
“Participating in Earth Hour is just one way we demonstrate our dedication to environmental stewardship. We believe that every action counts in preserving our natural resources."
The PMC Human Resources Department held a tree-planting activity on Wednesday, March 20, with the Mine Environmental Protection and Enhancement Office.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-13 (Caraga) will also participate in Earth Hour.
