Manila Water pilots wastewater technology for industrial, rural areas
Manila Water Infratech Solutions (MWIS), a Razon-led Manila Water Co. subsidiary, announced a new wastewater technology that would benefit industrial facilities, barangays, and remote residences.
The water firm said on Thursday, Mar. 21, that it has piloted the I-TECH Packaged Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), designed to produce water and wastewater services and meet the demand for modern solutions.
“This compact and robust sewage treatment plant integrates cutting-edge membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology into a user-friendly packaged system,” Manila Water said.
Jose Paulo Serias, MWIS general manager, said that the company is actively looking for methods to effectively serve eastern Metro Manila, stating “We continue to explore new methods and create innovative solutions with the goal of delivering lasting impact for the communities we serve, as well as to care for the environment where we get our resources.”
The piloted equipment utilizes membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology which efficiently filter wastewater and addresses the water quality standards set by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
After the rigorous water treatment process, the WTP can reduce environmental impact through water recycling and improving local sustainability.
The infrastructure will have a daily capacity of 10 cubic meters and can treat small to medium-sized communities, facilities, and hard-to-reach locations. Manila Water also said that its compact technology is low maintenance, as it is a plug-and-play installation.
The Manila Water subsidiary can engineer, design, procure, and supply materials, and equip and construct services for water and wastewater programs.
