ILOILO CITY – Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) chief Police Col. Ronaldo Palomo has ordered an intensified campaign against illegal gambling in Iloilo.

PALOMO (IPPO)
Palomo told police units in the 42 towns and component city of Passi to intensify monitoring of illegal numbers games following the public pronouncement of Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, Police Regional Office-6 chief.
Wanky warned Palomo earlier this week he may be replaced as Iloilo police chief for lack of operations against illegal gambling, especially when 7 Aces Games and Amusement Corp. lost its license to legally operate Small Town Lottery (STL) in Iloilo.
The IPPO said Palomo is “relentless in eradicating all forms of criminality, including illegal gambling.”
A total of 64 people were arrested in 23 anti-gambling operations from January 1 to March 19, the IPPO said.
Police Major Rolando Araño, IPPO spokesperson, said Palomo has not been remiss in the campaign against illegal gambling since he became IPPO director last year. “His record speaks for itself,” Araño said.
From March 4, 2023 to March 3, 2024, 350 people were caught for playing illegal numbers games.
