Grade 12 student killed by cobra in Ilocos Norte

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – An 18-year-old Grade 12 student died from a cobra bite in Barangay Crispina, Banna, this province, on Tuesday, March 19.

Barangay Chairman Reynaldo Duldulao said on Thursday, March 21, that the victim, Luisa Agpuon, was bit while changing her clothes inside her room in her house.

Agpuon was taken to a local healer for venom extraction but she was gradually weakening. She was transferred a hospital where she died while undergoing treatment.

Her father found the snake below the bamboo bench where the victim slept and killed the two-meter-long serpent.

Her parents had earlier caught another Cobra in their yard before the victim was bit.

Duldulao advised his constituents and the public to always cleanl their houses to avoid snakes.

Snakes hide in cool and shady places, he said, due to hot weather.
