PAOAY, Ilocos Norte – A 42-year-old farmer drowned in a creek in Barangay 26, Oia-Upay Abulao, here on Tuesday, March 19.
Police Capt. Sygman Benigno, Paoay police chief, said on Thursday, March 21, that the victim, Artemio Bailon, a resident of Barangay 26, Oiag-Upay Abulao, had a drinking session with his friend on Tuesday morning.
After their drinking session, they went to catch fish at the creek.
However, the victim’s friend slept near the creek and went home at lunchtime.
The victim's later found out that Bailon had not yet arrived at his house and returned to the creek to look for him.
Bailon was found floating on the creek and taken to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police said there was no foul play on the victim’s death and theorized that the victim died due to drowning.
