BATANGAS CITY – The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council-Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) is preparing for the influx of people for the Holy Week in the region.

RDRRMC Chairman Office of Civil Defense 4-A Regional Director Carlos Eduardo E. Alvarez III checked preparatory measures of local government units (LGUs) in major ports and terminals and inspected the Batangas Port and Batangas Grand Terminal here on Tuesday, March 19.
He was joined in the visit by PPA Batangas Harbor Master Louie Bernales, Batangas Provincial DRRM Officer Dr. Amor Banuelos-Calayan, Derwin Panganiban of the Land Transportation Office 4-A, Ensign Donald Dakingking of the Philippine Coast Guard Batangas, Batangas City DRRM Office Operations head Julius Malintac, and OCD 4-A Operations chief Randy de la Paz.
Alvarez issued RDRRMC Memorandum No. 16 maintaining the blue alert status of the RDRRMC Emergency Operations Center to ensure close monitoring of the situation in the region next week.
The RDRRMC has conducted a pre-disaster risk assessment meeting for Holy Week and the “summer” vacation.
Preparedness measures by the local DRRM councils and regional line agencies were discussed.
An emergency preparedness protocol has been established to ensure close monitoring and quick coordination between the LGUs and the RDRRMC.
