PBBM, First Lady develop 'flu-like symptoms'

President Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos have developed flu-like symptoms and have been advised by their attending physician to get some rest, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced.

In a statement on Wednesday evening, March 20, the PCO said the First Couple's vitals have been taking their medicine and are in stable condition.

"Following their full schedule these last few days, the President and the First Lady developed flu-like symptoms," it said.

"They have been taking fluids and medication to alleviate their symptoms. Currently, their vitals remain stable," it added.

The PCO said the President and the First Lady were advised to rest.

"To ensure their speedy recovery, they have been advised by their attending physician to get some rest," it said.

In a text message, Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil said the President's schedule in the next few days has been cleared due to this development.

"All his appointments today and in the succeeding days have been canceled," she said.

President Marcos and First Lady Liza arrived in the Philippines on Saturday, March 16, after a six-day working and state visits to Germany and the Czech Republic.

On Monday, the President graced the ceremonial signing of the concession agreement for the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and led the oath-taking of newly promoted police officials.

On Tuesday, he participated in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Country Roundtable in Malacañan.
