FDA warns against unregistered cosmetics for safety concerns
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning on Wednesday, March 20, regarding the purchase and use of unregistered cosmetic products that have not been subjected to the agency’s evaluation process.

It identified 16 cosmetic products that are "not safe for use."
These products were "Pond’s Complete Solution (Acne Clear White),” “Miss D Gluta Almond Milk Soap,” “Baby Love by Personal Care Baby Wipes (Baby Soft Scent),” “Green Therapy Apothecary Extra Gentle Oatmeal Milk Hand-Made Soap,” “PDI Anti Melasma Cream,” “Philippines Dermatology Institute Therapy Shampoo,” “Pdi Artisan Soap Collection Moisture Niacinamide Soap,” “Alada Mini Instant Whitening Soap,” “Happy Brows Brow Serum,” “BYS Concealer Duo 03 Natural Beige,” “V&M Naturals Emu Oil,” “Ellana Eyes Up Lifting and Brightening Eye Serum,” “Hair Care Collection by PDI Therapy Conditioner,” “Mayfair Cocoberry Whitening Bleaching Soap,” “Yoko Whitening Cream (Ginseng & Pearl),” and “Tokyo White Glutathione Natural Whitening & Moisturizing Body Lotion With Vitamins C & E And Anti-Oxidants.”
The FDA's verification process, conducted through postmarketing surveillance, has revealed that these products lack a valid Certificate of Product Notification (CPN) as of March 6.
Given that these unregistered cosmetic products have not undergone its notification process, the agency cannot vouch for their quality or safety, the FDA said.
It added that the utilization of such non-compliant products may pose serious health risks to consumers.
FDA said these potential hazards could result from the inclusion of ingredients that are prohibited in cosmetic products or from contamination by heavy metals.
It emphasized that using substandard and potentially contaminated cosmetic products could lead to severe reactions, including skin irritation, itchiness, anaphylactic shock, and even organ failure.
In light of these concerning findings, the public is advised against purchasing the aforementioned unnotified cosmetic products.
The agency has also issued a directive to all concerned establishments, warning them not to distribute these cosmetic products until they have fully complied with the FDA's rules and regulations.
