The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the March equinox, or the time when there is an almost equal duration of day time and night time, falls on Wednesday, March 20.

PAGASA said the equinox occurred at 11:06 a.m., when the Sun pointed straight above the equator of the Earth.
It also added that the areas in the northern hemisphere experienced the first day of spring, while it is the first day of autumn in the southern hemisphere.
“During equinoxes, the Sun directly points over the Earth’s equator, thus creating nearly equal day and night,” PAGASA said.
On March 20, the Sun precisely rose at east and set at west.
The Philippines will see the sun rise at 6 a.m. and set at 6:07 p.m., making the day last 12 hours and seven minutes.
