Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa has assured Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy of his safety should he decide to attend the next Senate panel hearing on the controversies that he is involved in.
"Kung takot siya, yung, takot siya na under threat yung buhay niya (If he fears that his life is under threat), I can be his security. I can secure him while he's in the Senate, I can offer myself as his security kung pupunta siya dito (if he will go here), just for him to be physically present in the hearing," Dela Rosa told reporters on Wednesday, March 20.
Dela Rosa said that it would be an insult to the Senate institution if his safety will not be secured so he, being a member of the Senate, is willing to provide him security.
"Ako mismo, punta ka dito, tingnan natin kung may babaril sayo (Just go here, let's see if someone will shoot you)," he said.
"Punta ka dito , andito ako walang pwedeng makakapatay sayo, walang pwedeng makakabaril sayo, andito ako. Yun ang aking assurance sa kanya. Basta pumunta siya dito (Go here, no one can kill you while I'm here, no one can shoot you, I'm here. That's what I can assure him. As long as he comes here)," he added.
However, the former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief clarified that he did not plan to take Quiboloy under his custody.
"Yung sa akin lang yung security lang niya pag nandito siya maghi-hearing (For me it's just for his security while he attends the hearing). Somebody wants to shoot you? Come, I'm here," he added.
The Senate has just issued an arrest order against Quiboloy. It was signed by Senate President Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri.
Zubiri mentioned that Senator Risa Hontiveros, who chairs the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality found no merit in Quiboloy's explanation and "has ruled to deny the reliefs prayed for and to issue the order of arrest".
