Creamline and Petro Gazz try to untangle themselves from the crowded top spot when they tackle separate foes on Thursday, March 21, in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Cool Smashers seek to erase the stigma of a recent three-set loss when they square off with the Capital1 Solar Spikers at 4 p.m., while the Angels aim for a fourth straight win in their 6 p.m. tussle with the dangerous Chery Tiggo Crossovers.
Toting identical 4-1 win-loss cards, victories for Creamline and Petro Gazz would loosen the five-way logjam on top that they share with Cignal, Choco Mucho and PLDT and retain the top seat.
While their recent defeat to the Crossovers sent them crashing back to earth for the first time in five years, the Cool Smashers are using the experience as a challenge to strive better.
“It’s about time to feel that way again. It’s a wakeup call for everyone not to be complacent this conference,” said Creamline skipper Alyssa Valdez.
Tots Carlos and Jema Galanza, who were limited to their usual fiery numbers despite combining for 25 points in their last game, are expected to fuel the Cool Smashers anew along with Bea De Leon, Pangs Panaga and Kyle Negrito.
Carrying a 1-4 record near the cellar, Capital1, meanwhile, hopes to end its three-game slump with the trio of Patty Orendain, Des Clemente and Aiko Urdas challenging Creamline’s frontline.
In the other match, Petro Gazz seeks to keep its momentum going with Brooke Van Sickle, Jonah Sabete and Chie Saet slated to banner the crew anew.
But Chery Tiggo, which resides in the middle standings at 3-2, is coming off a morale-boosting win over Creamline with hopes of catching up against the pacesetters.
Eya Laure and Cza Carandang are expected to take care of the Crossovers’ offense while libero Jen Nierva, who had 20 excellent digs, is set to toughen up their floor defense.
