Cops file double murder charges vs 4 suspects in mother-daughter slay

LUCENA CITY, Quezon – The Quezon police have filed double murder charges against four suspects in the killing of a mother and her daughter in Tayabas City, this province, last month.

Quezon police director Police Col. Ledon Monte said the filing of charges against the suspects was based on testimonies of witnesses and pieces of evidence gathered from the crime scene.

The Quezon police also filed an immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) with the prosecutor's office as one of the suspects is a passport holder.

Lawmen declined to name the suspects.

But in press conference at the Quezon police headquarters in Camp Gen. Nakar here on Tuesday afternoon, March 19, Monte said the suspects – a woman and three men – were considered persons of interest as they were seen riding a tricycle on the day the victims Lorry Litada and her Japanese daughter Mai Motegi went missing on February 21.

Litada and Motegi arrived in the country from Japan on February 20 and were reported missing the next day.

On March 14, their decomposing bodies were found buried not far from the home of Litada’s older sister, Ligaya Olivia Pajulas, in a subdivision in Tayabas City. Litada and Motegi stayed at Pajulas’ house.

Monte added that they obtained a search warrant from the court and based on their investigation at Pajulas’ house and statements from witnesses, they confirmed that the victims were killed inside the house in the wee hours of February 21, through stabbing, blunt force trauma to the head, and strangulation.

The Quezon police chief said the witnesses were relatives of the suspects.

Special Investigation Task Group Motegi, which the Quezon Police Provincial Office formed to solve the killing, is focused on pursuing other suspects.

Monte said that although they have identified the perpetrators, none of them are in police custody as they are still awaiting their warrant of arrest.
