Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar announced that a total of 900 young girls received vaccines against human papillomavirus (HPV) on the second day of vaccination drive.
Aguilar said the free vaccination against HPV was conducted at Robinsons Las Piñas led by City Health Office (CHO) head Dr. Juliana Gonzalez for girls aged nine to 14 years old to protect them from cervical cancer.
She said that on the first day of vaccination on March 13, thousands of young girls received the vaccine shot against the disease.
The mayor said the initiative is part of a broader effort against cervical cancer, a public health concern that poses a significant threat to women's health worldwide.
Aguilar said the CHO campaign aims to significantly reduce the incidence of HPV-related diseases, including cervical cancer.
