The Philippine National Police (PNP) has turned over around P420,000 to a confidential informant whose information provided led to the death of the most wanted person in the Bicol Region during an operation in Parañaque City on Jan. 24.
And the slain suspect, Gilbert Concepcion, was no ordinary wanted man as he was linked to over 100 killings in Albay and nearby areas.
PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr. said the cash reward was turned over to the informant in a ceremony at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
“The informant’s invaluable information exemplifies the effectiveness of collaborative efforts between the community and law enforcement,” said Acorda.
Concepcion was wanted for a series of killings in the Bicol Region, as a leader of a criminal group engaged in gun-for-hire activities.
He was implicated in killing and chopping the body parts of his two victims in Bicol in several pieces.
Concepcion was also tagged in the killing of two brothers in Libon town in 2006 over a land dispute, and also executed the mother of the two brothers in Polangui when she served as the complainant on the case filed against him.
He was killed along with his companion when police swooped down on their hideout in Barangay San Martin De Porres on Jan. 24.
