The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has warned the public against widespread misinformation online about the hiring of beneficiaries under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program.
In a social media post, the DOLE denied allegations that beneficiaries will receive P800 daily as it exlplained that the program’s minimum wages are set by regional wage boards.
The visuals, which were first posted on Feb. 14, claim that netizens can apply by messaging the publishers or enrolling on a website. Photos of TUPAD rewards were used in the posts to draw in netizens.
It said the program reportedly accepts applicants aged 27 to 60 who have graduated from elementary, high school, or college.
Two links were provided for the application and another two for details on the qualifications. It was explicitly noted that individuals must apply online, as walk-ins will not be accepted.
DOLE also advised the public to report entities engaging in such schemes to the authorities.
“You may reach us through the DOLE Hotline 1349 or the nearest DOLE office in your area, with corresponding contact numbers published on the Department’s official website, www.dole.gov.ph/key-officials/,” it added.
TUPAD is a community-based aid program that provides emergency employment to displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers.
