Tied 1-all in the final set, the 40-year-old Biado cleared the last three racks to clinch the win and set up a semis matchup with Fedor Gorst in this $250,000 tournament.
The Russian-born American also survived the tough challenge of Austria’s Albin Ouschan, 1-4, 4-1, 4-3, 0-4, 4-2.
Ko, a former US Open champion, actually had a chance to tie their score in the last frame at 2-all but scratched the ball while trying to hit No. 4, allowing Biado to seize the opportunity and never looked back.
Biado opened his bid with victories over Australian Justin Sajich (2-0), former world champion American Shane Van Boening (2-0) and Taiwanese Lin Wu Kun (2-0).
He outlasted Taiwanese Jung-Lin Chang in the Last 16.
Meanwhile, Japan’s Naoyuki Oi dominated world champion Aloysius Yapp of Singapore, 4-2, 2-4, 4-1, 4-3, to clash with Estonia’s Denis Grabe in the other semifinal pairing.
Grabe nipped hometown bet Skyler Woodward, 4-2, 3-4, 4-2, 4-0.
