TACLOBAN CITY -- A leader and member of a criminal group in Luzon were arrested on Monday, March 18, in Barangay Yapad, Pastrana, Leyte.
Police identified the suspects as Michael Smith Abolencia, 40, alias Michael Bakla and Michael Enting, the leader of the Abolencia Criminal Group, from Subic, Zambales, and currently residing in Barangay Yapad, and Serge John Ramos, 22, member.
The suspects were reportedly in hiding due to carnapping.
They were arrested through a warrant of arrest for violation of the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 73, Olongapo City on March 12.
They were taken to the Pastrama Municipal Police Station and will be turned over to the Zambales Provincial Intelligence Unit and Subic Municipal Police Station for disposition.
Pastrana is a fifth-class municipality in the second district of Leyte about 20 kilometers from the provincial capital Tacloban City.
