Mandaluyong City Mayor Ben Abalos spearheaded the turnover of the TVs, which also adheres to the Matatag Agenda of the Department of Education (DepEd). In total, the city government has installed 1,578 Smart LED TVs in its public schools.
"Sumasagisag ito na kaisa ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Mandaluyong sa layunin ng DepEd na mas paigtingin ang sistema ng edukasyon sa mga pampublikong paaralan. Ayon sa SDO, ang paggamit ng mga Smart LED TV ay makatutulong sa iba't ibang aspeto ng pag-aaral ng mga estudyante pati na rin sa makabago at mas epektibong pagtuturo ng mga guro (This symbolizes the city government's concurrence with DepEd's goal of improving the education system of public schools. According to the SDO, the use of Smart LED TVs helps in the different aspects of learning of students as well as in ensuring the advanced and effective teaching)," the city government said.
Abalos said he plans to maintain Mandaluyong SDO's number one rank among all SDOs in the country as he underscored the importance of introducing advanced equipment and techniques in education.
"I will not be where I am now kung hindi dahil sa edukasyon. Kaya't ibinabalik ko ito sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay sa kanila (SDO) ng lahat ng paraan upang ang lahat ng ating mga bata ay magkaroon ng madaling paraan para matuto at makatapos nang maayos (I will not be where I am now if not because of education. Hence, I am giving our SDO all the help and assistance they need to ensure that the city's youth will receive the best education the city could offer," he said.
In February, the mayor lauded the city's SDO and students for their outstanding performance in the National Achievement Test (NAT) for School Year 2022-2023.
The city's commendations included the:
- Top 1 Schools Division Offices for Grade 10 NAT (Nationwide)

Based on the data from the Department of Education (DepEd), Mandaluyong City garnered a score of 58.90 percent in the Schools Division Offices for Grade 10 NAT.
Meanwhile, the CMSHS recorded a score of 77.65 percent in the nationwide Grade 10 NAT, bagging the 4th place.
Abalos assured that the city government will continue to develop and improve the quality of learning of its youth for them to become smart and responsible citizens of the country.
The NAT is a standardized set of examinations taken in the country by students in Grades 3, 6, 10, and 12. The test is designed to determine their academic levels, strengths and weaknesses, as well as their knowledge learnt in major subjects throughout the year.
NAT examinations aim to provide observational information on the achievement level of students to serve as guide for principals and teachers in their respective courses of action. They also identify and analyze variations on achievement levels across the years by region, division, school and other variables.
It determines the rate of improvement in basic education with respect to individual schools within certain time frames.
