Atty. Ingemar Macarine was touted to be the first person to swim unassisted from Olotoyan Island to the People’s Park, the bayside park of Roxas City, last March 17.
The prosecutor from Bohol province took three hours, 15 minutes, and 50 seconds to swim from the only island barangay of Roxas City to the mainland.
Macarine’s environmental stewardship was backed by the Roxas City government under the administration of Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.
Dadivas welcomed Macarine when he reached the shore at the People’s Park.
In a statement, Dadivas cited Macarine for choosing Roxas City as a venue for the open swim activity that pushed for clean seas, environmental protection, and tourism.
Aside from environmental and tourism, Macarine also advocated for healthy lifestyle.
Macarine’s swim was also supported by Roxas City Councilors Gary Potato, Fernando Viterbo, Jaime Altavas, and Rey Magallanes.
Macarine thanked Prosecutor Jomar Betita for his support.
