Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte on Tuesday, March 19, claimed that she has not discussed politics with both her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. because they both respect her will as a woman.

In a statement, the official claimed that both men have not interfered into her decisions as a politician.
“Politics is a matter that I have not discussed with former President Rodrigo Duterte, nor have I discussed my positions on national issues with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,” she said.
“It is clear that both men are blessed with the heart to respect the will of a woman,” the Vice President added.
Despite these, Duterte said that both her father and Marcos have “similarly expressed concerns over my well-being.”
“I assured them that I would take care of myself as I carry out my duties and responsibilities as Vice President and the Secretary of the Department of Education,” she insisted.
“Both leaders are also gifted with the wisdom to know that I am not a problem and I do not need to be solved, rather, this is the time to focus on the work that needs to be done for the country,” she added.
Her remarks came after some lawmakers expressed their puzzlement over her presence at the prayer rally held for Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder and leader Apollo Quiboloy, who’s facing abuse and other charges before the committees at the House of Representatives and the Senate.
While the prayer rally expressed support for her and her brothers—Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte and Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte—there were also calls for Marcos to step down from power. There were also insults hurled against First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
But Duterte did not address these in her statement and underscored instead the need to resolve national issues.
“Halimbawa nito ay ang kalidad ng edukasyon, ang patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng mga bilihin kasama na ng pagkain, at ang isyu ng terorismo, kriminalidad, kawalan ng katiyakan ng ating seguridad at kapayapaan (An example of this is the quality of education, the continuous rise of prices of basic commodities including food, the issue of terrorism, criminality, and questions in our security and peace),” she cited.
Issues that the Dutertes and Marcoses have fallen out have been fanning flames since the former president accused his successor of being a “drug addict,” though he denied this afterwards.
The Vice President has largely remained mum about her father’s and brothers’ tirades against the First Couple but her attendance at the prayer rally raised questions among the President’s allies.
