The HD Spikers pounced on the Athletics with merciless attacks on all angles to bounce back from a stinging three-set loss to the Choco Mucho Flying Titans last Thursday, March 14.
The win improved Cignal’s win-loss tally to 4-1 and tied them with Creamline and Petro Gazz at second.
Vanie Gandler fueled HD Spikers’ offense by pumping in 14 kills to finish with 16 points, while former Conferencer MVP Ces Molina also stepped up by erupting for 14 points built on 13 attacks.

“Pinanghugutan lang namin yung last game na natalo kami,” said Cayuna, who delivered 21 of 22 excellent sets on top of five points.
“Natutunan ko sa last game namin na kailangan talaga namin ng tapang. Yung dapat panghawakan namin yung anong meron kami na kapag may isang nawala, meron kaagad isang pupuno, may hahatak pataas,” she added.
Cignal waxed hot by dictating the pace in the opening set before encountering persistent challenges from Strong Group in the next two frames.
The Athletics tried to breathe life in the third set by crawling from a 15-8 deficit to 19-14 off the hot hands of Dolly Versoza and Mary Joy Onofre, but it was not enough to douse the fire of the HD Spikers.
Ria Meneses also shone for Cignal with eight points including two blocks, while Jovelyn Gonzaga chipped in four points.
None frome Strong Group scored in double figures with Sheeka Espinosa posting eight points, and Onofre and Versoza adding six and four points in a losing cause.
The Athletics, who struggled offensively by managing only 17 kills, absorbed their fifth straight defeat to plummet deeper to the cellar.
