Former congressman Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo wants nothing but a fair conduct of April 5 elections when he challenges incumbent National Golf Association of the Philippines President Martin Lorenzo.
With the lines already drawn for the anticipated polls at the Alabang Country Club, Arroyo made it clear that he has only pure intentions for the sake of the golfing community when he seeks one of the 11 seats in the board.
“I don’t have anything bad to say about them, I’m just asking to safeguard the process of the elections. It’s not a bad thing,” said Arroyo.
A "godfather" to young players under the wings of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines headed by Oliver Gan, Arroyo targets a seat to eventually face Lorenzo for the top post.
An avid golfer himself, Arroyo has pinpointed his main goal which is to inspire and hone players at the grassroots level.
With his heart solely dedicated to helping the golf scene, he said the conduct of the elections should be fair and square.
"As long as the process is fair, it’s good for me because it will define the character of this party,”’ Arroyo said.
“Masama sa reputasyon namin kung itong golf lang dinaya pa namin," he added.
